To Brilliam, my favorite Canadian
Dear Brilliam, when I jokingly sent you a response to your status message of “Working on Canada Day FML” by saying “Canada has a day?,” I only wanted to strike up a conversation with you because you are my favorite Canadian. I was quite aware that Canada has a Canada Day.
It was not my intention to offend your Canadian sensibilities and if I did so offend said Canadian sensibilities, I apologize. And out of the literally hundreds of Canadians, you will always remain my favorite and I wish you best in your proud day of Gretzky worship.
You know, it’s funny: I never actually got this message. I blame the iced-over igloo tubes that connect our Internet (which we, up here, have affectionately termed “Beernet, eh?”) to that of the rest of the civilized world (especially Tuvalu! Hi, .tv readers!).
I am reasonably sure that this was entirely planned by the Illuminati, speaking of worshiping Gretsky on Canada Day, but did you know that the NHL free agent market opens on Canada Day? July 1 = musical chairs in our favourite (yeah, there’s a u in that word now) sport.
And for the record, Riser is one of the best Americans. From one of Canada’s favourite states, too: Ohio. (okay, my favourite states, not Canada’s. But Rick Nash plays in Columbus, and he is a great Canadian. Also, the Reds have a great logo. Also, Cleveland was referenced in 30 Rock, which also took a stab at MTV Canada, and we love it when US TV makes fun of us. It reminds us that we still exist!).
